Two young people talking

Young Leaders programme

13 - 15 December 2017

Stonewall knows that people perform better when they can be themselves.

Our Young Leaders programme explores what it means to be yourself in the workplace, while giving you the space to reflect on your values and expectations of your future.

If you are aged 18 to 25, thinking about your future and wondering how your sexual orientation and/or gender identity relates to the workplace and your career aspirations, the Stonewall Young Leaders programme could be for you.

The programme enabled me to look at myself as a role model and see how I can be a positive role model to others.

What to expect

Held over two days in December, with a reunion event six months later, this programme inspires you to think about your impact on others as young LGBT leaders and role models.

Led by Stonewall facilitators, the programme creates a safe space for you to explore what it means to lesbian, gay, bi or trans in the workplace. Young Leaders is a residential programme, so participants are required to stay in London for two nights in accommodation booked by Stonewall.

What the programme offers

Stonewall Young Leaders is an intensive two-day residential programme, which offers a selected group of 36 young professionals an important opportunity to:

  • Reflect on how their identity as an LGBT person has an impact on their role as a role model and leader in the workplace
  • Explore how they can be a more effective organisational role model
  • Network and forge on-going relationships with other lesbian, gay, bi and trans professionals from the private, public and third sectors

Feedback from previous programmes

97%of participants said they now understand what it means to be themselves in the workplace

97%of participants said they feel more confident about being a positive LGBT role model in the workplace

100%rated the programme 'Excellent' or 'Good' overall

I always believed that there was not much to gain from other LGBT people my age. Quite simply, I was wrong.

I now understand the meaning of being authentic in the workplace.
